Re: My dad
Tomorrow my mom could quite possibly be making her last trip to the Cintas Center. My dad is back at Good Same for the 3rd time since Thanksgiving. He is eating next nothing and drinking less. My brother, St. X grad class of 87', will be accompanying her tomorrow. Times have been tough on her. Hopefully tomorrows game will pick up her spirits!!

Re: My dad
I am saying prayers for both Mom and Dad.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: My dad
Just an update on my dad. Hospice has been called in. As previously stated My wife, son and I were able to come into Cincy to take my mom to the Marquette game, the Alma mater of my dads youngest son. I was able to tell him, in person right after the game, that his BELOVED Muskies BEAT Marquette. I got a smile and a thumbs up from him! As I type this I cant help buy cry after thinking of that. Hes not in pain which makes me happy. But It hurts to know I'm about to lose my dad!
Thank you Xavier nation for ALL your thoughts and prayers!!

Re: My dad
Great seeing how this season is building bonds beyond wins and losses. Lots of reconnecting with old friends. We ALL needed a season like this. Thanks for sharing basket.basket wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:05 amJust an update on my dad. Hospice has been called in. Re: My dad
Tough to lose any family member but for a son to lose a dad is really tough. I was lucky to be with my dad when he died and stayed the night to be with him one last time. It has been a while, but I still tear up when I hear a hymn we used to sing when I was a boy and when I hear of someone in the same situation. Hang in there and tell dad Muskieman is praying for him and for his muskie son.basket wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:05 amJust an update on my dad. Hospice has been called in. family and history for X. the ties that bind a family. I attended and graduated from X..MBA. Started following X ball in 1978 and an avid fan. Started taking my young daughter to many games and then she and her husband got hooked on X. and now her daughter, my grand daughter is a junior at X and loves X basketball , at almost all the games. History is passed on.

That sucks. Prays for the repose of his soul and sit on the backboard tonight dad and tip a few in and bat a few away.

Please accept condolences. Your wonderful relationship with your Dad is evident and, because of that, the sense of loss is deeper.
As one who has also lost his Dad, there are no magic words. One aspect that provided me solace was that I had my Dad as long as I did (he passed away the day before I turned 50, in the same hospital I was born). Many are not so blessed. Remembering the many games attended, reflecting upon conversations, finally understanding the sacrifices made and seeing him as a wonderful Grandfather all flooded to the forefront upon his passing.
Trust us, he remains with you in spirit. You are a better man because of that which he imbued in you. He passed the torch to you as his health declined, knowing full well your Mom is in good hands.
Plenty of ups and downs ahead. Fortunately, a good Dad raises a good son who rightfully grieves, yet becomes stronger in fulfilling the legacy your Dad established.
May he Rest in Peace.
