are you for real?

Matta has MAYBE 5 years left coaching at most. Butler is grooming him to be AD there when he's done. i bet he has about 3 and then he becomes the AD.

Butler may be grooming him for the AD position but he is only 54 years old. Sean is 53 so why is it that Matta has MAYBE 5 years and not Sean?
Spot on Muskieman. Well done.

They are the same age.

Miller was fired from his last job and has NCAA troubles. Many around college hoops view him as toxic.

Matta has the health questions for sure. But he also has final fours and a National Championship game appearance.

Matta > Miller. By a long shot.
I call BS on that last statement and also your 2nd statement, which you beat like a dead horse. Matta is not better than Miler by a long shot as both have been successful.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Fair enough. We will agree to disagree.

Would have loved to have Matta back.

Recruiting the Indy area just got a lot harder.

Is it possible that we had a chance at Matta and we went with Miller and his baggage?

Swing and a miss if so.

Matta has already had "health" problems in the past. that could play a role in his longevity in this business, especially as a HEAD coach.

Matta will be the loudest boo of the season at Cintas when Butler comes to play. Doubt anyone forgives his straight out lies when he bolted to OSU. There's a long list of successful XU coaches that took bigger jobs (Gillen, Prosser, Miller, Mack). But none of them lied about it and snuck out the back door in the middle of the night.
I personally don't have much of an issue with how he left. How many people who have changed jobs here told their colleagues or supervisors they were looking at other opportunities? I've always said Miller was the best coach at X, with Matta a close second.

There were three coaches that left honorably...Miller, Prosser, and Gillen. And two that left lying through their noses and creeping away...Matta and Mack. I will never forgive either one of them for being so dishonestly, so yes...I will be a major boo-bird when beaknose pokes his sorry ass back in Cintas.
Xavier always goes to the NCAA tournament, and almost always makes some noise while there. Projecting anything less than that this season feels like folly--Eamonn Brennan (ESPN Summer Shootaround, 2012)

I wanted to not like Matta for leaving but met him and he was a good guy and pretty funny. I’m glad many of you don’t call him beaknose that was very immature.
