If you look on rivals it says that SJU have received a verbal commitment from Parrom

Actually the article is gone now. Hmmmm. There was an article on rivals bball recruiting that said Parrom had committed to St. Johns and was going to play with Lawrence, etc.

Maybe they jumped the gun or someone confused the Lawrence commit with Parrom.

Lots of crazy stuff about the Johnnies, going on including rumors that Lance Stephenson was going to commit.

OK to clear this up Parrom has not committed to St. John's but Omari Lawrence has. It is confusing though when you go to Parrom's page on rivals there is an article on there that says top ny guard is a johnny but when you read the article it is about Omari and not Kevin. Besides Kevin is a forward not a guard and he recently as of this weekend said he would visit Xavier and UCONN.

Hopefully Miller has quick hands. Apparently, you have to guard your grill around this kid.

wow, eastsideJ is right on top of the news. I bet he got that one about the rider spreading word that the British are coming and uc won two ncaa championships.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

J, that's such old news that not only was it the subject of at least one other thread months ago, but I think there was even a 2nd thread about whether the first thread should be posted.

But thanks for giving us that May 13th update. Gosh, I wonder which MLB teams will be in 1st place at the All-Star break????? And I guess you have to say that Hillary Clinton has the Dem nomination sewn up. No way that Obama fella can catch her over the summer months!

Haha! Old news!

Sure, no problem. But face it if UC recruited a kid who was arrested for punching his coach and then was thrown out of his school. You guys would have a field day. The date of the story would be of little importance.

Might be a great kid, but you have to wonder. Few kids punch coaches.

Maybe, but if somebody posted an article about the incident 3+ months after it took place, and had been discussed at length, even we would wonder about the timeliness of it.

Eastside reaching for a negative headline. I agree with Gary that timeliness is what we were talking about.

There were comments in that article that it might have been the coach that provoked the fight which doesn't excuse Kevin but might be a reason. Stories out of NEW York seem to indicate that the coach was rather over bearing (to put it mildly)and the altercation may have been about what summer league/ AAU team Parrom wanted to play for during the summer. Darnell Williams didn't pouch his coach but the head of the AAU in NY wanted him to go to UMass and put extraordinary pressure on Darnell until his mother stepped in an told the guy that Williams was coming to X and to go jump off a short pier(to put it mildly)...she might have been the one to have popped the guy and I guess if you heard what she said you would say she verbally punched him.

His AAU coach tells a different story: Oliver said something to him and Kevin said something under his breath.

"Then Oliver said, 'Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me?'"

That led to a fight and Charles said Parrom "swung his arm, just to get (Antigua) off of him. That's when he hit him."

Charles (His AAU coach) said someone in the school other than Antigua "made them call the cops."

Charles maintains the incident was out of character for Parrom.

"Having gotten to know Kevin in this short couple of months, he's not that type of kid," Charles said. "I've been in plenty of locker rooms where a helluva lot worse happened in the locker room."

I generally don't condone duking it out with the coach, but we old farts remember a great story about the legendary Al McGuire, who was nothing if not a player's coach.

During practice, he was going back and forth verbally with forward Gary Brell when all of a sudden the two of them went at it, and ended up on the floor before being separated. Once it was done, it was like it never happened. That's the way Al was, and that was the mentality of his Marquette teams.
