Re: Ferris State game
A lady friend owns a tee shirt company here in SC. We have a small alumni group. I ordered 25 "I love Malcomb" tees.

Re: Ferris State game
While I can not disagree with the fact that Sean did not have a good game, I am not as negative about his performance overall. He rebounded and he boxed out. He made the moves necessary to get his shots - he just had one of those days where the ball won't go down. He'll be fine and will give some opponents fits in the middle as he is really a load close to the basket. Gaston - a little too aggressive on defense, but it was his first real game in awhile. I think he'll be fine as well.

Re: Ferris State game
Sean is better than he played last night. In fact, he played better last year than he did last light.

Re: Ferris State game
We have 31 games to play over the next three months. Little too early for me to be concerned about anything after 1 exhibition game.

Re: Ferris State game
Won't deny Sean had better games last year but last night was awful. All 6 shots he missed were from 1 foot. Last year he had the most fouls per minutes played and he showed that tendency last night. He was also a poor ft shooter last year. I guess 0 for 1 last eve is not a sample
. Gaston is a 5th year player. Was hoping for more from him. But as others have said it is one exhibition game.

Re: Ferris State game
I would like to add my agreement that it was an exhibition game and while Ferris state is just a DII team I don't put much on one game. I did have a talk with Rick Broering of Scout and asked him if he thinks the #7 ranking is correct. He said very much so and went on to say how there are no other BE teams with three players the caliper of Ed, Tre and JP who can defend our guys. He said they might have 2 but not three like X. I asked him as well as some other insiders, including a coach, who will big the best of the new guys and they said Bernard. A number added that he is a happy at X giving him a chance.
Last year we talked about a three headed monster in the middle and while they did not look it last night I can see where they might be by the end of the ooc and I do think that The Kaiser will make them more effective.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Ferris State game
I told my friends to bet the Muskies to ein it all. Last night I told them to hold on to their play money. We should dominate in the paint against D2 talent. Small ball will only carry us so far. Sean has limitations, but Gaston? Where was he?
Last year I won lots of money betting the Muskies in the ooc. This year I may take the points.
As Izzy Kadetz used to say, HURRY BACK (Kaiser and Myles).

Re: Ferris State game
Small ball did take Villanova to the championship and a number of teams are copying.
Look, though, at OUR small ball---four starters at 6'5 or 6'6. Everyone can gang rebound and everyone of them can take the rebound & go! They all can pass and except for Bernard (we have not seen it yet), they can all shoot the jumper and the 3. Add Myles and you lose 3/4 inches, but he still does all the skills very well and adds the 4th 3-pt shooter. Goodin only drops an inch and he does it all. Gates can run and be another outside shooter.
No doubt there will be days when the outside shot will not be working, and for the most part, there will be no doubling down on our posts, but this will be a scary team to defend and really fun to watch. Depth might be a problem, if JP or Ed get in foul trouble or Ed flies so high that he hurts himself again. Exciting.

Re: Ferris State game
MMan---Uhh, Rick, we have a team in the conference named Nova! They might argue about not having scorers to match ours! TB=15.1 vs Josh Hart=15.5; EdS=11.0 vs Brunson=9.6; JP=9.4 vs a guy names Jenkins=13.6. Not to mention a transfer Paschall who will probably outscore Bernard. And Bridges and Reynolds will probably grow some as will KG for X. Myles is a wild card for us, but I assume he will be back for league play which will help, But not sure Nova fans think they will be outgunned!

Re: Ferris State game
I remember a D2 exhibition game when Stainbrook was here and X didn't dominate the paint. Look at this as a shank down cruise of a new warship. We will see how they do in the next few games but if you bet money based on exhibition games you must not be that great a odds maker.oreobob wrote:I told my friends to bet the Muskies to ein it all.
