We have never seen Stainbrook nor Reynolds play 1 second of XU D1 basketball.
Why are we assuming things?
I hope they will be awesome.
Philmore has a head start.

The great thing about this team is that we have so many options! I'd love to see Randolph semaj, Martin aleksander and stainbrook starting lineup! Early in the year it will most likely be dee semaj Martin philmore and stainbrook

It will come down to who can play defense. Younger players will need to learn quickly that this level is much quicker. Transfers will need to adjust to XU's system. The returning players will have the early advantage. Who will adjust and who will be like Farr last year and not be able to adjust?

WhenDee is not put in an isolation post up situation he can be an outstanding defender.

I agree with oldhoopster. Look at McKenzie, Latham, Farr etc. Minutes were limited because of defense. I hope Davis can turn it around because Redford played better defense year end than him.

Re: Time to get creative
there are numerous options and I hope they all meet potential. First, I'd like to see the guys that sat out become a force because it will mean a big guy (JR), and 2 guard (MD) in the mix. If Stainbrook gives us inside offense and rebounding like he is projected what looked like a weakness last year will become a strength. I also hope Farr can show us some improvement. He should know what he needs to work on and if he works hard this summer there is no reason why he should not improve. The new incoming guys need to be gravy for X. If someone steps up and becomes an impact player fantastic but the guys coming back need to keep up the tradition of leading this team.kriegers2 wrote:The great thing about this team is that we have so many options! also it is foolish to label a player because he was not a stud his first year when he was projected as a work in progress. Too often we think this is easy for a guy to come in and be a stud just because they have hype in high school.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Time to get creative
Will be really interesting to see how Martin reacts to all of the new players and increase in competition. I see the starting lineup looking like:
Locks:
Stainbrook
Semaj
Philmore
Probable:
Martin
D. Davis
Serious Contenders for solid minutes:
Myles Davis
Reynolds
Randolph
Outside looking in:
Cantino
Vezenkov
Farr
Richards
Locks:
Stainbrook
Semaj
Philmore
Probable:
Martin
D. Davis
Serious Contenders for solid minutes:
Myles Davis
Reynolds
Randolph
Outside looking in:
Cantino
Vezenkov
Farr
Richards

I tossed and turned about this last night and figured that I would sleep a lot better if I left this decision up to Mack & company.

I'd agree with that but I'd put vezenkov in the solid minutes

Re: Time to get creative
I would have to guess that until the coaching staff gets multiple chances to see these 13 guys on the floor at the same time, there won't be any decisions made on starters, first ins off the bench, substantial minutes otherwise, and (either) red-shirt or "active" learner on the bench.
