Like his style or not Mack has a plan. I agree. He has way too much passion for the game and for Xavier.jct1941 wrote:I think that Stainbrook will be taking up a ship. I believe that he takes a ship like Philmore did last year even though he must sit out a year. Personally I would hope we get Rayvonte Rice because he is a proven player for the 13th ship. I do believe Mack has a plan and I hope it all works out. Go Xavier!

1. Has anyone heard much about how philmore has performed in practices, etc. or seen much of him? How much can we expect from him?
2. Wouldn't it be fun since we have a young small team and small but athletic bigs that we ran a 3 or 4 guard offenses with lots of subs and a lot of pressing? I've always felt the press is wildly underused in college bball where many offenses are turnover happy and run poor offensive sets anyway.

No I haven't, but I've learned not to take the assessment from "insiders"at face value. I heard how both Canty and Latham would supposedly contribute as freshmen, and that TTaylor was ripping it up in scrimmages. Word was also that we got an atheletic, skilled point forward big in Walker, and while I loved his effort, he was very limited with his skillset.lionelchalmers0 wrote:1. IP played in the summer league periodically last year. He looked workman like, not a flashy player. Unfortunately, what stuck out in my mind that he did not look to be as big as i've seen him listed at. Familiar theme.

Agree on the size. Sit behind the bench and could see him all year in the huddle and his size did not stick out.
Only time I have seen him play was in Midnight Madness and he looked very good. However that was now a long time ago and for a short time against teammates - so who knows.

Agree...he looked very good at Midnight Madness....but so did Travis Taylor.olsingledigit wrote:Agree on the size. Sit behind the bench and could see him all year in the huddle and his size did not stick out.

I think that Philmore has more of an offensive game than Taylor and will be a decent scorer for X next year. Even though he played for a bad team (Towson), the Colonial is stronger competition than the Northeast where Taylor played.
