What is first team? If first team were only about numbers then there would be no reason to vote. Just plug the numbers into the all conference team formula and whala...you have yoru teams. Intangibles, like most feared player, effort, exceling at your role, defense all "should" go in to picking the teams. X got snubbed, probably not deliberatly, but it was a snub.

I'd take Dunston, with 15ppg and 10rpg, at center over Love, acknowledging that Love has played very well for X this year.

I'd find a spot for Gary Forbes (20ppg, 8rpg) at SF.
I think you could squeeze in Calathes (18ppg, 8rpg) at either forward spot as well. This isn't to minimize what Brown, Raymond or Anderson have done.

So stats are your only creiteria? Dunston has been MIA in big games this year. I watched him at Rose Hill for a couple games this year and he disappoints because he does not demand the ball when they need him to demand the ball.

Love was asked to play a role and that role was not to be the leading scorer.

Some have said Duncan was soft but Pat Calathes sits outside more than Duncan.

Hey I am not saying these guys are not good but you take that team and I will take Xavier's team and in the end we will win more than you will win.

No, but they can't be ignored, either. There's no way to tell how these players would have performed in Xavier's system, and we've had guys go MIA in big games as well.

CJ scored a total of 22 points in the two UD & SJU games for a total of 5.5ppg.

BJ and CJ combined for 2 pts. in the Temple game.

Love scored 23 pts. total in 4 of our 5 losses.

So, please, I'm not knocking our guys; they've played very well and earned their 26-5 record. But you can't make a serious case for any of our guys to be 1st team all-league, no matter how much success the team has enjoyed.

yup that's me the UC fan. i've attended, in person, every single X game this year home and away (how many on this board can say that).

haven't missed a home game played in the Cintas Center.

attended every single NCAA tournament game X has played over the past 12 years (even the Gonzaga game in Salt Lake a couple years ago---when 3 other X fans decided to show up)

my family and myself personally have paid for /donated quite a few athletic and academic scholarships over the years....

but i'm the uc fan. keep it coming "die hards."

btw...since when is a basketball player considered "unselfish" for playing defense. it's half the game. it should be expected.

You will have a Forbes that gets so full of himself he gets lazy and fouls out or is in foul trouble in many games.
You will have a guard that will shoot more than pass.
You will have a center that plays only when the game is decided.
As for Pat a very good player on a team with another very good player but can not seem to get their team over the top in games that everyone thinks they should win.

I read Stan's comments again, and to me it shows his passion and that he cares about his teammates A LOT.

Calling him a clown is pathetic.

I think everyone on the 1st Team is deserving; they earned it, so I'm not upset about that.

I can understand Stan's feelings though and if the guys use this as motivation during the conference tourney and NCAA tourney, they will make this a sesaon to remember.
