The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Indiana will, at some point, talk to Scott Skiles about their head coaching job.
I think it's a great fit. He's from Indiana, played his college ball there (Purdue), and IF pro players stop listening to him after a few years, that wouldn't be a problem in college because the players are graduating/moving on at that point.
And I have to feel that he'd run a squeaky-clean program, and a successful one as well.
IU could do a LOT worse.

I thought Scott Skiles played his college ball at Michigan State. Also, he might run a sqeaky clean college program but if I remember correctly, he wasn't very squeaky clean when he was in college. I believe he had his fair share of run-ins with the law. He smoked alot of pot in his day.

Re: Skiles to IU?
You're absolutely right, southern. Skiles IS a Spartan; don't know what I was thinking.
From everything I saw in his 4 (almost) years here as head coach, I firmly believe that you would see NO recruiting violations, NO academic shenanigans, NO embarassing incidents, etc., from Skiles if IU hires him as their head man.
A lot of folks smoked some dope, drank too much, got into various scrapes, etc., when they were young, but learn from it and toe the line as adults. I'd be willing to bet anything that Skiles' program would never be in the news with the words "NCAA" and "probation" involved.

I don't disagree with you about Skiles running a clean program at IU. I just remember the thing that stands out the most to me about his college career is the # of times he was arrested. That being said, he was also a pretty good point guard.

Re: Skiles to IU?
I think he still holds the NBA record for assists in a game (30), and he had the stones (insanity?) to challenge Shaq when the two played for the Magic. Shaq likes Skiles in large part due to his competitiveness.
