do you guys read my posts at all, or just skim through?
you act like i am beating my chest about our recruiting class saying it is the best ever. all i said was this is ON PAPER, supposed to be his best class so far. i didn't even SUGGEST it was as good or better than Xavier's. I took exception to someone saying gregory "really can't recruit." that's not entirely accurate, he has done a fair job. now if you said jim obrien was a bad recruiter, i am in total agreement. ud's current class is better than gregory's last, and next year's ON PAPER sounds like it is better than the current one.

i know you guys hate ud, i get it, but seems like everything i post on here is made out to be some personal attack against x or that i am secretly inferring ud is better than x. i know x's program is better than ud's and i do respect x's program.
some of the posters on here however cannot apparently talk basketball with a ud fan without taunting or spewing 3rd grade insults.

again, this board is unlike any other i have ever visited
and i thank you for the entertainment value it brings.

Joey. A few things to note.
1)It has been the Dayton fans and alums calling local talk shows here who have suggested it may be time for a change regarding Gregory.
2)There is no defense for Kurt Huelsman. He is purely and simply a thug. His two fouls (one not called ) sending Xavier players into the UD bench were absolutely not characteristic of Dayton players. And I have seen enough Dayton players over the years--probably before you were born--to know that things have changed at Dayton, especially in the coaching department.
3)I have never been fond of people calling for a coach's head. I have seen the good, the bad and the positively ugly of Xavier basketball and for that matter, Dayton basketball.
But it's been a long time since I saw a Dayton player do what Huelsman did, and not just the two fouls. He hipchecks when he sets screens and tries to trip people as they go by. I can say for certain there were Dayton players in past years who would have cleaned Huelsman's clock during practicee if he pulled that sh!t. I don't care if Kurt Huelsman loves his mother--which I'm sure he does--and if he uses deodorant daily, bathes and helps little old ladies across the streets at rush hour, he does not reflect well on Dayton basketball or the University of Dayton itself.
4)Unlike many others on your own chatboards, I hope Gregory stays for the length of his contract. I know Sean Miller will complete his at Xavier. There is too great a tendency today to say, "Let's get rid of the coach." It's our national trend to want immediate gratification and if it doesn't satisfy us, be it marriage, children, jobs, or our favorite basketball team, it has to go...make a change...get a new one. And that really is a pity that no loss can match.

i get it now, huelsman is a horrible talent because you guys think he is a thug. those are two totally different matters. funny how fans of two different teams can see two totally things in the same game. i didn't think huelsman was thuggish at all in the game, in fact i have never seen him do anything "thuggish" in any game he has played in. trust me, i hate thuggish players as much as the next guy.

if you read my above posts, you will note i said nothing indicating whether i think gregory should or shouldn't be fired. therefore your first point about local ud fans and alums wanting gregory's head is not valid in regards to anything i have said.

my posts were in response to wise saying gregory is a bad recruiter. i disagree, i think he is an okay recruiter. not outstanding, but not bad.

i think gregory is on thin ice, but he will get a pass this year because of the injuries. if next year they fail to make the big dance, he will probably be gone.
personally, if miller is still at x after the season i think kissel should try and lure him away. vbg

I hope Brian's recruiting class gets better because in 5 years the guy has recruited 2 players that are anymore then mid major recruits and when speak of mid major I am talking Missouri KC, Jacksonville, Troy, Georgia Southern and teams of that ilk. The A-10 needs them to step up, no more starting out like world beaters only to be sitting at home come March. You have to be getting tired of saying the same old thing, "next year we will be great". We have been hearing for the last 5 years how Dayton is outrecruitng Xavier and how Dayton is passing Xavier blah, blah, blah, blah. Brian Gregory is either a horrible coach or he cannot spot talent with a gps. Time for him to put up or shut up.

It is tough joey when you are in the bottom of the garbage can looking up and have no one to help you out.

Maybe baseball will be better for dayton if they use that slick playing infielder that is a freshman!

I'm going to agree with you on one thing, the midget is an ok recruiter. Problem is he couldn't coach an all-star team to a victory over a bunch of sixth graders wearing bags on their heads. He's a career assistant.

Thin ice?? How much is too much? Here's another HUGE difference between the two programs, X fires a coach like BG immediately, dayton embraces him.

Huelsman is a bigtime thug. Watch him set a pick. Watch him under the basket. That is bush league crap he is pulling and a matter of time before he gets his ass kicked.

The difference is bigger than than Huge. X does not hire a coach that would be deserving drop kicked out of town. Because Michigan St. and Tom Izzo were on an up trend at the time UD 's research settled for an ass. coach from MSU reasoning they would be like Michigan State and Gregory would do things the same way. After running Oliver Purnell off with criticism UD is hard pressed to turnover another coach already, so yes, they will live with their investment a bit longer, but the guy couldn't coach a canary to eat bird seed....Keep Fryin' Gregory
