Re: S-W-A-G
I think this article points out something that we have all noticed this season...this team walks with a different kind of attitude then those teams of past. I am not saying that those teams we have grown up watching werent just as good, but I think in todays game, you need to be "cocky" and some what arrogant. It really gives you that advantage over your opponent.
Who would have thought that stanley's clapping in his defensive stance would have a big impact on the opponent. The article made it sound like roberts has nightmares about it

It shows the opponent "I'm up, energized!" Jason Love power jams, Dante Jackson dives for ball, Josh Duncan rips down the rebound, B.J. Raymond precision drilling the back of the rim, Derrick Brown running the floor, Drew Lavender's hypnotic, icy stare, Coach miller eyes wide open....It's really not swag....It's power basketball, The Power of X..xuhuh!JAX 3758 wrote:I think this article points out something that we have all noticed this season...this team walks with a different kind of attitude then those teams of past. I don't care what you call it. This is the highest we've been ranked at this point in the season. So yes, let's play with some "swagger." We've earned it. But thank you DDN for pointing it out. That has to be some salt in the wounds....

This is the type of thing Tom Archdeacon does best..He has been and is still ONE OF THE BEST COLUMNISTS in the business. He used to be noted for his fairness, but lately he's become a near unabashed "homer." Witness the column he wrote after the first UD-XU game....How the undermanned
Flyers might have had a chance if Roberts weren't on his death bed with whatever.
In a column Tom has much greater latitude than a reporter to express an opinion, whichis what he is paid to do; that and entertain.
I submit to him that Xavier has much more than a swagger. They have talent and a damn fine coach who can really recruit.
If you heard the rumblings from the Dayton fans who called a sympathetic Lance McAlister today, there is little love for Brian Gregory. It was worse than the early days of Sean Miller. And it was on the radio! "It may be time for a change," was the comment of one.
Sadly, Gregory will probably continue because of the "superstars he hass recruited--the incoming classes.
Somehow, if Dayton doesn't make the A10 tournament and win it and if the NIT ignores the Flyers, even that new tournament won't be good enough to satisfy the rabid Flyers.
Actually, I hope they keep Gregory.
xavier's had pretty good success recruiting against him and even greater success recently on the court.

"Q" X has had a lot of success with all the dayton coaches in the last 18-19 games with only 3 losses. Does the word DOMINATE fit?
TOM has become a homer but he has had a lot of weird opinions the last few years.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
