AGAIN...ITS NEW MEXICO!!!!xavierj wrote:So Alford gave a kid a chance and the kid burnt him. Alford must be such a ***** for trying to help him. I am sure Alford did not make that decision by himself. It sounds like Alford made a mistake leaving Missouri St. in the first place because Iowa is not a very good job because it is very tough to recruit and win there. Alford seems to be doing just fine at New Mexico St.Mr. Neutral wrote:From the New Mexico student paper web site----
Alford made arguably his most controversial decision at Iowa in 2002, when he allowed leading scorer Pierre Pierce to remain on the team after he was charged with sexual abuse. Pierce pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault causing injury but was allowed to practice with the team while he sat out for the season.
In 2005, Pierce was charged on a separate count of assaulting his girlfriend and sentenced to two years in prison. He was kicked off the team after that incident.
On various Web sites, Iowa fans have said they are pleased with the departure of Alford. FireSteveAlford.com had been calling for Iowa to get rid of the head coach, with a poster writing on the Web site Wednesday: "Hopefully all of our hard work will finally pay off this year and the Fraud will go to New Mexico."

Re: MILLER TO INDIANA?
The Wash St coach is #1 on IU coaching list. Miller is #2 and Thad Matta is #5. I think Thad Matta takes this job. Miller will only leave for the Pitt Job.If it really is about Money then I don't want Miller here. If its about challenges then I say take the job. Every Xavier coach that has left the program did very well at first but then they found themselves with a losing program. If I am Miller I would stay at X till the challenge is gone. He can win here but if he wants to move on then let him.

Re: MILLER TO INDIANA?
Sean miller had no head coaching experience before given the reigns at X. He's a guy born to be a coach. He assisted some fine programs and learned from all and dreamed of the day he would get "his team" This is his team, his program. Miller is a professional college coach, old school in a new age, and not a carpetbagger. He doesn't coach for money, whenever he leaves, it won't be because of money. If people open their eyes and ears they will know that.........In Sean We Trust.

Re: MILLER TO INDIANA?
If by IU coaching list you are referring to the Indy Star's coaching list, than you are right, Sean is #2. I think IU is going to come hard and heavy at Sean, but I don't think he will leave. He may want to renegotiate for a raise for the assistants or something else on a coach's wish list, but I think he will stay put.Theo Huxtable wrote:The Wash St coach is #1 on IU coaching list. Re: MILLER TO INDIANA?
Furthermore, I need someone to tell me what IU offers (other than a more prestigious conference) that Xavier doesn't. Every coach wants to be at a school with the resources and desire to compete for a national title. From facilities, to administration, to financial resources...you name it...Xavier does that as well, if not better, than most schools in most conferences.
So again I ask, what does IU offer that Xavier does not.

You're kidding, right? If not, try--
(1) Big 10 versus A-10. No contest, B10 hands-down.
(2) One of the highest-profile programs in the country, with multiple NCAA championships, versus a school with a name people mispronounce and one Elite Eight.
(3) Fanatical statewide following that will deliver 35,000 to games in the RCA Dome versus a following that doesn't fill the U.S. Bank Arena.
Need I say more? Yes, X is a very attractive job, but it pales next to a job like IU.

you hit the nail on the head. i don't think miller will leave x for just any bcs job, but iu is definitely one he would.
as far as alford(maybe it's been posted on here already) supposedly there is bad blood between he and greenspan. goes back to their missouri valley days, when alford coached at sw missouri st. and greenspan was ad at ill. st. doubt if he will get the job. by the way, if miller leaves x, we would be willing to give you gregory if you send derrick brown our way.
