First, this thread should not be on the main basketball board. Second, it nausiates me that someone is willing to even bring this topic up in the middle what may end up being our best men's basketball season ever.
Enjoy the season and what you have and forget about what you don't know about, or cannot do anything about.
And so it begins.............

The Xavier Basketball program is bigger than any one individual or coach. It's been proven time and time again.

Well, maybe.dabott wrote:The Xavier Basketball program is bigger than any one individual or coach. It's been proven time and time again.
But here's the point. We've been to plenty of NCAA's and second rounds. Only twice out of the first weekend. To take the next step continually and compete for a Final Four every year, stability is the key because of a continual recognition of the coach and the recruits it brings in.
While Sean has not been the head coach for all 7 years, he's been a significant recruiter for all 7 years. He is now in his 4th year and look at this season's results with "his" players and the recruiting class coming in. Stability along with maybe Xavier's best coach ever has made this season. Xavier has never had the recognized potential to get to a Final Four more than this year and has never been in better seeding shape. The Elite 8 year was admittedly a surprise. Only the Sweet 16 year rivals this year and that was in Pete's 6th season.
Yeah. Maybe if the coach changes every 5 years, XU can still get to the Dance, or just maybe the wrong guy is hired just once and you right away fall off the face of the earth, like what has happened to Tulsa after a bunch of coaching changes. Unless you have a coach who stays and becomes the "Face of the Program" you'll still always be fighting the uphill battle after a restart.
Sean must stay to reach the pinnacle.

I think the odds would be even on who will be in town longer, Sean Miller or Brian Kelly.
