AND one more named Mier Panoam for RP
North Dakota transfer guard Mier Panoam, commits to X. Called a hidden gem. The ultra-explosive guard averaged 15.3 pts., 6.9 reb, & 3 assists, 45.5% from the field and just 22.2% from three-point range. in conference play last season. Played his first year at Tulane. Panoam was originally a three-star recruit and the No. 12 player in Georgia for the Class of 2023

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Welcome aboard Mier. Anybody from Alaska is fine by me. Young man looks like he can really jump. Great addition. I think Pitino likes to press and play a lot of people. That system keeps everyone happy and engaged. I think he will really help out and may start. Great pick up.

Yes,
This roster is definitely.................................................................interesting. Just curious, anyone know if RP had a fall right after getting the X job? He does know he has to compete in the B.E. right? Just checking.

Here's a sobering stat: MP shot just 45% from the field, even though 75% of his attempts were at the rim. Still feeling good about this pickup? He's got potential, but I worry about adding him to a team comprised of only 40% proven players (with no alphas), instead of the 70% we'd ideally need. I hope I'm wrong, but I predict we'll be fighting for our lives in the last week of conference play to avoid the First Four in the Big East Tournament."muskieman wrote: ↑Sat May 17, 2025 8:03 pmNorth Dakota transfer guard Mier Panoam, commits to X. That’s true, but what do you expect when we lost our coach and every player on the roster. I’m happy with Pitino and I’m sure we will take our lumps, but not sure what else we could have done.

I think to expect Pitino to come across the country and out recruit Miller is unrealistic. I agree with Skyhops in that we have to be patient. Miller was and is a elite coach and recruiter. It's all about the N.I.L money now and it will become much harder to get and keep top 100 players. We probably will take our lumps until they ( NCAA) get a handle on the N.I.L mess

Mark my words, you'll both rue the day you questioned my judgment. BTW, I'm on board with the Pitino hire. He's an impressive guy, boasts a strong pedigree, and has a track record of winning. And while I firmly believe Xavier has more than enough NIL money, my real concern lies with its allocation. Miller certainly squandered it, but Pitino, in my view, spent far too much, too soon, on unproven talent. Case in point: Anthony '3-point, 2-rebound' Robinson, commanded a hefty NIL sum. Yet we prioritized him like he was a top 5 center. He was likely second only to Pozzatto in NIL spending.
My top four picks (in no certain order) are Carroll, Pozzatto, Wright, and Moore. However, we're noticeably missing an alpha, a rarity for any Xavier team I can recall. While I even like Ndiaye, pairing him with Robinson is questionable; they're both projects, especially on offense. And then we bring in a promising point guard who appears to be just a slightly more athletic version of Anderson.
Furthermore, I don't see our two New Mexico fours being decent contributors as a tandem. Honestly, I think Xavier will have the weakest collective of 4s and 5s in the Big East, perhaps only rivaled by Butler, Seton Hall, DePaul, and potentially Villanova.
I truly hope to be proven wrong. After all, I only hit 67 of 68 teams in the last NCAA tourney (picking IU over TX) and had MQ-New Mexico playing at 9:50 on Thursday instead of 7:20. But as the Mods consistently remind me in our meetings, my inaccurate takes occur as frequently as periodical cicadas appearing in Cincinnati.

Anti-Homer You are slipping. LOL. Only 67 out of 68 in the field. I for one don't believe we do have enough N..I. L. money to land a Alpha. That is why Miller left. I don't think many of us are over whelmed with the new roster. Maybe Pitino can pull a rabbit out of a hat. We all hope so but I think he will really have to do a great job coaching to get us in the tournament. A lot of tall guys who haven't done a whole lot yet and a bunch of guys from mid major programs who did well in their conferences. Pretty tough to replace the entire roster in one year but we will see .If I hit the lotto than Xavier will have enough money to get who they really want. Until than we have to get lucky.
