Re: ST JOHNS GAME THREAD
When you're up 16 in second half you have to win.At least Saturday we were able to make enough plays to hold on.Would love to have had Swain out there the last 5 minutes. Hunter just hasn't been able to offer much this year. Missing that front end hurt. We need to win one of these next 2.

Re: ST JOHNS GAME THREAD
this is about as frustrating of a loss as i've witnessed. i'd rather got our a$$ kicked from the start and know we are gonna lose like they did to us at home. should have known full well with Charge O'Connell on the call how this game would go. get up early, let St. Johns basically do whatever they wanted to physically and not call anything, blow 3-4 HUGE calls that gave SJU about 10 points, and then our team just physically wilting under the pressure in the 2nd half. missed layups, missed front ends of 1 and 1's, bad turnovers, etc.
you simply can't give up a 16 point lead in the 2nd half. CAN'T.
a chance to beat a top 20 team ON THE ROAD.
lack of depth reared it's ugly head last night.
not sure we have what it takes to beat UConn.

Our bench played 39 minutes and had 2 pts and one rebound? All from 5 and six year players

Re: ST JOHNS GAME THREAD
That was a game we had and needed to win to keep any hope for a NCAA bid alive. We were the better team for 3 quarters of the game but St. John turned up the defensive pressure and we could not get off a shot. I have said it before our margin for error is small. We are not a physical team and we have no depth or low post presence. Therefore we get no easy buckets and struggle to score at times. We play hard but we are missing a few key components that would make us a top team. Frustrating but but we need some dawgs. Go X!

I would have liked to have seen how the game would have ended if Swain had not been injured. I think Freemantle would not have fouled out, and X would have won without an OT. Of course, no one knows for certain but Swain was able to get to the rim with more certainty than anyone and they would have had to guard Swain and Freemantle more heads up instead of the double and triple team they broughtconnecticut72 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 10:18 amThat was a game we had and needed to win to keep any hope for a NCAA bid alive. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Swain is a difference maker, but unfortunately this team has folded down the stretch in most important games. Having an awful bench probably doesn't help.

Re: ST JOHNS GAME THREAD
Players on the Bench that don’t or can’t play getting NIL $$. What a mess Sean has to deal with but some his own doing. Haven’t heard if Swain can play or how long he will be out. This could really get ugly with the remaining games especially the next two.
