Glass Half Full?

Postby pdxmuskie » Sat Feb 11, 2023 4:56 pm

Currently the loss to Butler is painful. It shows for a 2nd time how vulnerable this team is.

It does however open the door for a very hungry Xavier team on Wednesday. I suspect several players are angry with their individual performance. Sean will likely callout the sloppy passes that were thrown out of bounds. Failure to recognize double teams and work the ball for better opportunities, etc.

If Xavier can play a crisp offensive game with high energy on Wednesday, they may get a win we didn't necessarily expect once Free went down. That win will have a more dramatic impact on winning the conference than the Butler loss. If X loses Wednesday, then the Butler loss is the tragic event it currently feels like.

Amen
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Briefly: 1. 19-6 at this point is very good, not great but very good. Glass is more than half full. 2. However, X has a lot of wins that were barely won by a few points and if those all were losses the record would have 9 more losses and 9 less wins thus 10-15. The glass would be way under half full. Not good at all. 3. If X keeps the 19 wins and also had turned those few close losses in to wins....X would have no more than 1 or 2 losses at most and the glass would have been more than full and a great season. There are 3 possible situations for the glass.

The close games are why the likes of KenPom have not given us much love all season.

But when it is all said and done, I prefer the glass we have over the glasses we could have had. :D
