Tough to win in 2022 even if a team makes March Madness

Postby Xavier2005 » Mon Mar 21, 2022 10:36 am

Round one and two are 48 games. About one third of the 48 games, 15 games, were decided by 5 points or less. Six games were decided by Overtime! Eight teams were seeded either a one or two seed and 3 of the 8 LOST in the first or second rounds. A great seed does not guarantee a win. If the refs had not swallowed their whistles in the last 10 seconds of the game TCU would have won over Arizona and another one seed would be gone. ( And even though Kentucky possibly spending close to $100 million on Calipari over the years, it has got them "one" National Title" and several years also that they did not even make March Madness. Can't even buy Titles.) Very very few great programs, and a few schools basketball programs are just barely above average. 351 Division One schools, but just a hand full of consistent winners in March Madness.

Steele and the team might/would have made March Madness had they just just won 2 or 3 more games before Selection Sunday. That means Steele would still be the coach of Xavier next year because they would have made March Madness. Xavier might have played a game or two in March Madness but probably never made the Sweet 16. Steele would still be the coach for next year. It is amazing that a lot of coaches get fired because they do not reach certain expectations. The one and two seeds could not make it past round one ...2 seed Auburn lost, 2 seed Kentucky lost, second round one seed Baylor losses. Third round one seed Gonzaga losses and one seed Arizona losses. 5 of the 8 top seeds are OUT!! Yes, they made the dance, but they fell far short in March Madness, but each head coach will keep their job. Point: Making March Madness may keep a coach from being fired but it does NOT guarantee a win in March Madness. Coaches and teams can still disappoint the fan base by losing to lower seeds and basically looking bad doing it. The top seeds made themselves look over rated . Tough to win in 2022.
