Xavier can still get in, but the only way for that to happen is the majority of the favorites in conf. tourneys have to WIN. the more bubble teams that WIN even a game or two, the more their resumes are boosted and overtake Xavier. the more favorites that win and knock those teams further off the bubble than X is, then maybe X sneaks in.

that's it. that's the only way.

the committee may still think that Xavier in the play-in game in Dayton would make a great atmosphere, etc. that could be a factor.

That Loquacious guy for butler goes 1-11 and 0-7 from three today. I guess Jones and Scruggs are not the defenders Steele thinks they are. Glad he had Kunkle guard him who guard a statue.

The entire X team could not guard a statue this season. Steele has not had a good defense in all four years. If you wanted to see great defense you should watch the Indiana Hoosiers, especially against Michigan today. They play the old time Bobby Knight kind of defense, that their coach Mike Woodson preaches. IU will likely take our spot in the field as a result of their win against Michigan today.

The ultimate pain would be if our former rivals to the north take our place. A UD win tomorrow and they have a strong case. Probably have a strong case now after last night. IMO, I just don't think this XU team deserves a spot based on their record and their performance, especially in the last several games. 4-10 record in their last 14 games, losing 6 of their last 7, is not a team that should be in.

Nope, now need a miracle, and X has been short on those this year. Shooting as poorly in the biggest game of the year shows how tight these guys were in this game.
X has been short of miracles in four yrs now:

Some fun facts on Twitter:

- Prior to Steal, X has been to the semi-finals in the BE before he took control of the Titanic.
-Prior to Steal, X has not gone four straight years of not going to the tourney in forty years.
-Prior to Steal, X has not been below 500 in conference play in four decades.
-Prior to Steal, X had not been in the bottom third of teams that shoot from three-point range four years in a row.
-Prior to Steal, Boos haven't rained down in Cintas consistently over the last four games of the year.
-Prior to Steal, X didn't Ice Cream Tuesday, Junkyard Dog, or Funny Hat Friday to determine playing time.
-Prior to Steal, X has not been the laughingstock of upper-echelon programs four years in a row.
-Prior to Steal, I was proud to be an X Fan. Now, I hope all bubble teams win out.

This encapsulates Steal's lack of coaching awareness and acumen. I didn't watch much of the game, due to a prior engagement. However, I saw:

X up six with a minute to go, and instead of bringing in their best defender in Odom, and/or taking out FreeBluiett or Scruggs who is almost as bad defensively, he leaves both in. Then Scruggs took over to fuel Butler's comeback, something we have seen multiple times this year. Up six, with under a 40 seconds, he misses two free throws, then makes a foul to allow them to tie the game - 4 pts. Then, with 29 seconds, he stupidly took a circus shot which he was unlikely to make, leaving 9 seconds on the clock, He then fouls their best free throw shooter and fouls out. He claims he thought there were up by three. That tells me Steele didn't review the scenarios. Paul makes it, we foul. He misses, we play D. The problem is we only had sycophants announcing and reporting, I wish someone would have asked him a question.

Four straight years of very low IQ basketball.

He is just a horrible coach period. He must be let go, 8 figure annual donation given by his father in law notwistansing.

As usual.: I agree with OSD. X’s idea of defense is out scoring the other team. I’ve said for three years Steele is made for AAU ball. Even the pundits are ripping him up, saying things like this team has too much talent to lose this many games. Fanta, Goodman, Lacin, and the list goes on and on. Steeve Wolfe threw major shade Steele’s way too. I’ll bet you his son Winston Howell the Third is probably going to lobby for his buddy’s mom to coach his team, much to the chagrin of his wife Lovey.
