For Covid a team would need a minimum of seven non-quarantined, uninjured scholarship players (as determined by the affected school) available for a game.
Big East announced the following revised game cancellation policy as approved by its board of directors: Under the new policy, if a conference game cannot be played on its originally scheduled date because one team is unable to begin or complete the game due to an insufficient number of players, including as a result of COVID-19, that team will have forfeited the game, with a loss assigned to that team in the conference standings. A win will be assigned to its opponent."
"Additionally, if a conference game cannot be played on its original date because both teams are unable to begin or complete a game due to an insufficient number of players, including as a result of COVID-19, both teams shall be assigned forfeits, which will be applied to the conference standings."
the NCAA Tournament selection committee would not consider those games as losses. They would be "no contests," meaning they would not appear on the team's overall record, nor would they impact the resume or NET ranking of the teams involved

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

they are expecting that the BE might change their guidelines on calling it a loss.

@muskieman found it! Thanks!
The Big East's policy seems to be a bit harsh. I mean they have to find a way to determine the regular season standings at the end of the season, and I can understand how logistically challenging it is to re-schedule multiple games. I am also all for being strict on social distancing and vaccination, with consequences for programs that are not. If teams are being impacting by multiple cases on multiple occasions, they are managing the situation improperly. But it is also in the best interest of the league to play as many games as possible. I would prefer rescheduling for games where both teams cannot play and forfeits if only one can cannot play. Still not ideal, but it looks like 1-2 games a week are going to be canceled. Maybe more as Omicron spreads.

I am sure it is because of the tight schedule regular and then Tournaments that make it hard to reschedule. Making a forfeit might seem harsh and it is but maybe is players know it they will regulate their behavior so it will not happen. Of course, we are asking them to behave like mature adults.
As I also mentioned the BE might change its position on forfeits. All X has to do is keep making good decisions and even that may not protect them.

The Big East will reclassify forfeitures and try to reschedule games moving forward. per Jon Rothstein
