ACL is actually replaced. The torn tissue is removed and a graft or other autograft band of tendon/tissue is used to reconnect the bone and the muscle (some variability among surgeons so generalizing a bit). That tissue needs to be tight in order to stabilize the knee. Older open surgeries called for 4-8 weeks in a cast and that often lead to a loose connection between the bone and muscle which leads to poor outcomes for an athlete.edgecliff hall wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 11:19 amPlease explain rubber band and tight in the space. So the fix has to be tight, if the player is to have a future. Very important , then to know how the surgery went for our new big guy from Iowa. Thanks, Jesseandrippers.
