So here's a question. If Dino is on the bench at Louisville, who would you like to see on the bench at X? Reality please. No dead men.

that's what i don't get about some of the posters on here that think Steele needs to hire some "veteran" coach to be his asst. how many of these dudes who are actually GOOD coaches like Dino at U of L, Martelli at Mich for Juwan, etc are lining up to be college assts??? they are just AREN'T out there.edgecliff hall wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 8:31 amSo here's a question. it's like people on here think Steele can just go out and say "i'd like a veteran coach to come on staff and be my asst" and they'll just be at his door immediately. doesn't work that way. sorry, boys.

Look up the history and background of Matthew Graves who is rostered as "Special Assistant" to our head coach.

you work under Brad Stevens for that long, you had to have learned SOME THINGS you can bring to Xavier's program that would help.
seems like a pretty good guy to have as a "special asst". even has head coaching experience.

Re: Less than 6 minutes into the game and they are in the bonus
Tony Yates was an assistant to: Lou Henson, Gene Bartow, Gale Catlett, and the great Tay Baker. Admittedly, I had to look it up, but both Henson and Bartow were Hall of Fame coaches. Louis Orr was an assistant under Pete Gillen and Jim Boeheim, another HOF coach. This is no commentary about Graves, as I know nothing about him, but after seeing his photo, he looks like a guy who wears a fake beard and sits in the upper bleachers furiously taking notes at CYO games I coach. Hopefully, he can impart knowledge about how to guard high ball screens, the value of zone defenses, making sure good shooters take the majority of shots, among other gems. Just thought I add some perspective.
