Re: @ Providence Game Thread 2-16-19
19 pos, 9 reb, 1 asst 0 ball turnovers in 51 min by grad transfers..Mature performance by them and great by the team. Providence looked lost after spanking St Johns at St Johns and being ahead of Villanova at Villanova with 8 min to go. I was at game and a decent Xavier presence there.

There is mention of Goodin yelling at the team and telling Steele to F off.
Was this witnessed by a fan at the game or on TV? I have the game recorded and would love to see this.
A decent source says Goodin does not return next year and I can see this as a real possibility for several reasons not the least of which is his playing time will evaporate when we get someone at the point who can score and not turn it over.

Xavier always goes to the NCAA tournament, and almost always makes some noise while there. Projecting anything less than that this season feels like folly--Eamonn Brennan (ESPN Summer Shootaround, 2012)

I'm calling BS on this one!! No coach that I've played for or know would allow a player to get away with this kind of behavior at the risk of losing the team.

We defended pretty well these last 2 games.I think that has to be our MO the rest of the year.We shot the ball well Saturday but I don't know if we can keep that up.I have heard rumors of things not going well between Steele and Q.I hope that is not the case.As frustrating as he has been this year,I think we need Q back next year.

You must not remember that Tu Lyons and Tu Holloway played for Xavier (zip em up). They pretty much did and said whatever they wanted. Steele for some reason has an extremely long leash with Q. He could be someone else's headache next year if this continues.

Re: @ Providence Game Thread 2-16-19
I was at game with 2 providence guys and when castlin came in with 8 min to go I said "game over, you will NEVER turn the Columbia guy over". Sure enough he was a great safety valve, did little with ball except take one solid dribble towards the passer and deliver the ball. They were annoyed and asked me "does that guy ever shoot?" He defended Diallo well and I noticed in warmups a little bigger than I thought and has good hops. Welage never took a layup even in warmups; took 3s and one handed runners off each foot like he would try in a game. Hit 2/3 in game and like Castlin did nothing with ball except a dribble and a handoff or short pass. When he missed he reminded me a a golfer practicing putting trying to adjust. Hankins of course solid and fun to watch. God knows where this team would be without these three guys. I hope they are enjoying their time in Big East despite the disappointment of probably not making the big dance..maybe they will treat MSG like the big dance

I remember a very astute poster, can't remember which one, report this. However, he/she said it was a couple of weeks ago, but didn't say if it happened at a game or practice.Murph85 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 10:01 amThere is mention of Goodin yelling at the team and telling Steele to F off.

Outside of their contributions on the court, the three transfers have been the consummate team players, who clearly care far less about their own personal stats, than team wins. I wish it was a universal trait with all of the players.whopper wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 12:32 pmI was at game with 2 providence guys and when castlin came in with 8 min to go I said "game over, you will NEVER turn the Columbia guy over".
