1. did Xavier offer Mack the 3+ million or whatever offer was reported? I realize Christopher said in the presser that some offer was made to Mack but he wouldn't give a number. I heard somewhere around 2.5 per year but I am not certain.
2. Has Mack known he was taking this job ever since Pitino was fired? has this always been THE job he would leave for and when this all came to light (Pitino fired, knew they weren't going to retain Padgett, etc), was this a done deal all season? would he have still taken this job if we were playing this weekend or would U of L have gone to the next guy? Mack has told sources that he was interested in ND and Louisville in order to take him away from Xavier. I have heard that talks began at the start of the BE season and word leaked out a few weeks ago which could explain his teams performance two our of the last two games. Rumors have been circulating that after Pitino left Mack was enamored with the job and this seemed to effect the recruiting process. Look at this years vs the past few years.
3. Did Mack take this because he just doesn't think he can get X to a FF or was it really about the $$$ and his wife's hometown? His wife had a lot to do with it and they both like the attentions.
4. Did Mack not recruit as hard for next year because he knew he was leaving? yes
I can't think of anything else right now but if anyone wants to add ?'s they have to this so we can try and get them answered, that would be great.

Re: Can the Board answer some ???'s
GC said the average of BE coach's salary was 2 mill and Chris was above that...all records show Mack at 1.6 and change but then who knows. I think reports said Mack was offered by UofL 5 to 7 but then they said he signed for 4. If X had made a significant offer of say 3 mill X still would have been outbid(you can only sell so much ice). Now did he get the deal done before the season ended. Maybe the agent and lawyers had paperwork but I doubt it was no more then a tender letter and informal acceptance. Just like players that have peeps whisper NBA in their ears coaches' agents are always telling them they need to move on to greener pastures before they wear out their welcome and like players some coaches even though they know they have a good job become star struck.
I know that players might not have heard final word but they knew and some were really upset...pissed I think was the word. Scruggs as already come out and endorsed Steele so if that doesn't happen who knows what might happen. GC said he had not talked to recruits but would as of last night should have been on that puppy 5 minutes after the players were told...maybe sooner. I think he has fallen down on his first assignment...well maybe his second the first was to try and keep Chris.
Much like former coach's wives had an influence on a coach staying or going Mack's wife had an influence on this decision. Not too hard to think going home where her children could go to same schools as she did, grandma and grandpa would be closer now and she really didn't have connection to Cincy except her husband...she did go to UD.
As for Mack's recruiting ...he offered 10 guys yesterday(a number of 5 stars...one from Indiana) and had not yet signed a contract. His incoming X class was not as notable as the ones prior which may be because coaches were saying "Mack is going to Louisville next year" or maybe because he didn't want to take any from X. Only he knows for sure. the signs are there just as they were for Matta and Miller. Skip was the one that surprised everyone including his breakfast buddies that were left with an empty seat the day he took off for Wake after visiting Gary and the X fans in Chicago(he never did like Gary). What has happened to X happens in college basketball and we are not immuned. I wonder if Mack's immediate reaction to the Sunmer's situation was for two groups of people

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

North of 2 mill could be a dollar but then I said that in the first comment. I wonder had they contacted you if the head coach would have been called the Anti Homer family head coach? It appears the iceman wasn't adding anymore money. Chris probably figured out that future raises at X would be like getting blood out of a rock.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 6:19 pmPer GC's presser, muskieman wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 6:06 pmGC said the average of BE coach's salary was 2 mill and Chris was above that...all records show Mack at 1.6 and change but then who knows. Lord knows neither I nor any other 7th grade cyo coach could have done worse with the defensive strategy.muskieman wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 6:39 pmNorth of 2 mill could be a dollar but then I said that in the first comment. Re: Can the Board answer some ???'s
I will say this. I've always said CM has every right to leave X at any time, and for any reason, whether it makes sense to us or not. All X has the right to ask for is his best effort while here. I have grave doubts about his honoring the previous sentence. I never thought I'd ever have reason to question his integrity, but meeting with his future employer multiple times during the season, and having a flurry of recruiting activity before the ink was dry leads me to believe his head was squarely and solely in Hookerville right around halftime of the Friars game.

when/where/what proof do you have that these meetings actually happened?Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Thu Mar 29, 2018 12:16 amI will say this. i'd love to know how many guys he "offered" end up saying "yes" to U of L and also, how many of those 10-12 guys they offered were top of the list for X as well. also, how can they ALL possibly say "yes"??? they can't have any entire roster of scholarships open? still only get 13, right? do they only have 1-3 guys returning?
