University Maryland Baltimore Co

Postby xu koop scoop » Sat Mar 17, 2018 2:48 pm

Any team that can take down a #1 seed deserves their own thread. So Everybody's Hats Off to University Maryland Baltimore Co. They get 2 days of fame (well, maybe not - see below) before tipping off against Kansas St. They should have a chance in that game before waiting for Kentucky, Oh yes, UK has to get past Buffalo.
UK fans have to be salivating, at least at this point. Went to bed right after XU game, thought nothing interesting left to watch. Saw headlines this morning showing UMBC taking down the #1 seed. Thought I'd read about a buzzer beater. UMBC BEATING A #1 SEED BY 20 IS BEYOND AWESOME. So I'm watching Countdown to Tipoff on CBS right now & they have given that game NO MENTION. They are completely ignoring it!!!! 15 minutes of watching & NOTHING. The "ignoring" was all between 230 & 245 this afternoon. Since they seem intent on ignoring AMAP, again, HATS OFF TO UNIVERSITY MARYLAND BALTIMORE CO.

Zona fans were happy their loss was kicked off the main page of the Tourney
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

UMBC u might be Cinderella. Btw any one know how they determine which 16 seed plays which 1 seed?aren't the 4 16 seeds in Dayton considered the worst and should play the top 2 seeds in this case Va and Nova?

Hate to say this, but UMBC winning, AZ losing and now Loyola-Chi winning gives UC the easiest path to the final 4 of anyone in the brackets, Go X because we might have a rematch in the final 4. Just take care of business guys.

I would hesitate to call any team "worst." I would, under these circumstances, prefer "least likely."

Ok change "worst "to " lowest rated " much like X is the lowest rated 1 seed . There were 6 #16 seeds. Does the committee rank them 1 thru 6 with 1 & 2 not playing in Dayton ?

I didn't know much about Loyola-Chi, but they have a very good resume. Ironically, they beat the only common big-named opponent played, Fla, whom UC lost too, at Fla. Beating Fla, Miami, Tenn tells me they are for real. This could be the best 3 point shooting team they will play this year. UC is pretty horrid offensively, but are an outstanding defensive and rebounding team as we know. It will be the same old story for them: Do the latter two well, and they move on.

Completely understandable. As a sleeper, they have been napping and shattered the record for sleeping set by Rip Van Winkle.

Maybe for UC but I seem to recall an 11 seed beating a 2 seed last year.
