Brian Gregory expected to be hired at South Florida

Postby XU80 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 11:47 am

Per ESPN, Brian Gregory expected to be hired by South Florida. Inheriting a team that wen 7-23 and finished last in AAC. From ACC to AAC not what you would call moving up the ranks of the college basketball coaching ranks.

But at least expectations won't be high and when he can't bench coach, especially late in close games like at UD, he may still maintain this job for a while. May.

Battle between him and the little munchkin at UC as to who is the shortest coach in the league. I guess you could say they will go "head-to-head"

Met this guy a times and he was a little weasel. Mrs Hops went to UD and we are at a reunion and he told me that David West was soft and would not be good in the NBA. I asked if that was why he dropped 47 and 19 earlier in the year? What a DB

Sounds like he had a good perspective on how to evaluate talent

A school with low expectations & success - 3 NCAA appearances in 46 years - matched up with an underachieving coach - 2 NCAA appearances in 13 years. A perfect recipe for continued mediocrity. Welcome back to the mid majors Brian.

Hated to see Gregory leave Dayton. Overcoached and no semblance of any kind of flow to their game. I think he thought he was a hockey coach with all the line changes. Speaking of hockey, can't ever forget the boxing lessons for his team and then in Atlantic City when his player (can't remember who) got a flagrant foul against Xavier that cost the Flyers a game and a trip to the Dance.

Enjoy the AAC with your mini mee buddy Mick!!!
