Skip, you are questioning someone because they agree with me? My feeling are hurt. In the past week I agreed with Shadow and Muskieman on a topic. Peace out

Reynolds left early for $$$ so you can't count him as a "transfer" but nice try there. LAJ didn't want to compete behind Sumner and Goodin. that's his prerogative. Not Mack's.
also, the fact that Skyhops totally agrees with you just proves my point even more.[/quote]
how can you possibly even compare Myles Davis getting about 7-10 minutes a game after coming off suspension to ML earning PT as a frosh
Great point. ML went the extra mile for X by redshirting, certainly at the behest of the coaching staff, and was a model student ahtlete by all accounts. Myles was a chronic troublemaker in college, who CM gave a 2nd chance to knowing he needed another scorer, and committed another indiscretion upon his return. I'm starting to agree with you that ML should have given much more consideration, and MD shouldn't have been allowed to return at all. Thanks for clarifying.
how can you possibly even compare Myles Davis getting about 7-10 minutes a game after coming off suspension to ML earning PT as a frosh? it's not even CLOSE to the same thing. Myles gave 3 years to the program. Mack knew what kind of player he was. London was still a work in progress and ML also knew that the 2 guys playing the majority of minutes that he wanted were about to be gone, so he had 3 solid years of playing significant minutes at the 4/5 spot and didn't stay. that tells me it had ZERO to do with how many minutes he got as a frosh.Anti-Homer wrote:hlongliveskip wrote:you don't just "give" guys playing time. they have to EARN it. in practice and then performing in games. he didn't do that last year and he was playing behind Farr and Reynolds, one of the best 4/5 combos we've had in a long time! he knew full well both of those guys would be gone and with an off-season of lifting, working on his game, etc, would've been given a huge chance to step into a larger role this season. if he wasn't that homesick, he would've waited for that chance. had NOTHING to do with not playing more minutes as a frosh at all.skyhops wrote:Plenty of opportunities to give Makinde more time last year which was one of main reasons for leaving. I do believe LAJ would have improved our situation. In college basketball there are always multiple reasons for players leaving unless you know something more than I do
i agree that with our lack of guard depth now because of injuries, LAJ would help but how can you account for guys getting hurt?
they both did what they thought was best for them. LAJ would've clearly been the #3 PG on the depth chart. he saw that and looked elsewhere for more PT. it happens.e knew full well both of those guys would be gone and with an off-season of lifting, working on his game, etc, would've been given a huge chance to step into a larger role this season. if he wasn't that homesick, he would've waited for that chance. had NOTHING to do with not playing more minutes as a frosh at all.
Exactly how do you know this to be true??? He played very well early last year when he and O'Mara got minutes, hitting 3s, playing good D, and collecting assists. When Farr and Reynolds got into foul trouble against USC, both played extended minutes, and London showed tremendous ability. Mack and Co have done a great job luring high caliber recruits, and a poor job keeping them. We lost 4 eligible players this year from last: Reynolds, LAJ, Eyikor, and London. WThey blew it with London, plain and simple. Now, one of our key recruits for next year, the post player from Fla, is transferring to revive his grades which are on life support. Mman has the paddles ready to shock them back into eligibility.
you don't just "give" guys playing time. they have to EARN it
Pray tell, How did Myles Davis earn meaningful minutes his 1st game back, after only 1 1/2 practices when he returned? I kind of think guys like O'Mara cried B.S. on that one. He was asked to leave because he got into an altercation with yet another young lady. He blew his second chance, and hopefully, didn't cause any resentment with the players.
