Semaj Christon

Postby joeabe » Thu Dec 22, 2016 10:26 am

Had floor seats last night for Pels vs OKC....Semaj in pre game warmups saw my Xavier jacket and smiled. He played really well. He's really quick and fast.....got to the basket 3 times for 6 points beating the defender off the dribble on all three and shooting over the bigs. He looks like he belongs in the NBA playing tough D! He still struggles with his outside shot. He did a very good job passing the ball with I believe 5 assists in 14 minutes. After the game he threw me a towel for my grandson....Seems like a nice young man!!! Xavier proud!!! Westbrook is off the charts talented! He went for 42...

He is a good story for kids that leave before they should. Even though it took a while, he has gotten his shot, and is playing pretty well. He seems to get good spacing to drive with RW out there, and as you said, is playing very good defense.

Listen, I am really pulling for Semaj and recognize that he has worked his tail off to get where he is, but he better find a shot at some point. With the % he is currently shooting, he is abysmal. I seriously wonder how long he can stay in the league with numbers like this.

Of course, if he can keep up the assists and impact the game in other ways, that will help.

Season:

FG %- 32.5%
3PT FG%- 16.7%
FT %- 52.9%

I watched him in warm ups shooting from the outside.....His ball seems to have very little rotation (knuckle ball looking). He has a weird motion too! Most of the NBA guys in warm ups make most of their outside shots. Semaj seemed to shoot like 50%.Seems like he would get a shooting coach? Perhaps its too late to fool with his motion. But, I too believe he will struggle to stay up. It became obvious during the game as he missed a couple of outside shots he started to pass the ball instead of taking the open shot...Not good!! FYI Westbrook makes $27 mil, his backup Semaj $500,000!! So, if Semaj could hit the outside shot............................????

Ed is very similar. He really needs to work on his outside shot if he wants to make it to the next level

One can only hope that Tre and Ed read this site religiously so that they can learn from experts like ourselves what they have to do to become NBA-ready. Without our unfailing background and expertise, they will be totally lost in their striving for a handsomely-paying career in professional basketball!

Assuming they DO heed our suggestions and they finish their storied careers as gazillionaire NBA All-Stars, they can come back to this board and tell our kids and grandkids what they must do to assure themselves of a successful career as a lawyer, doctor, dentist, nuclear physicist, etc...

Fathers James Hoff and Michael Graham, AD Mike Bobinski, and Head Coaches Staak, Gillen, Prosser, Matta, Miller, & Mack represent a Golden Era of Xavier Men's Basketball. AD Christopher and Head Coach Steele will bring us to an even higher level!

Muskienick, nobody likes a smartass!! LOL I really don't know jack about the workings of basketball. I want SC to play 15 years in the NBA same with all members current and future on XU's BB teamsI could care less if they leave early or stay 4 years....I want whats best for the student athlete. Only verbalizing my observation of the kid's outside shot. I attend most Pelican games and watch shoot arounds ,,,,SC has a different motion than most. Merry Christmas!! Fact is he is an NBA player....case closed>

Thanks for the report Joe. I have been impressed by semaj's play. He is working on his shot, but his defense and speed to basket will keep him into assoc.
