It's a super AAU team and I'd sure like to know who is paying the tab for the high school plus the meals, rooming and sundries that go with the package. No denying it's a for profit organization. Could it be that the operators get a percentage of the player's salary when he turns pro?

As usual,

I agree with Shadow. Be afraid; very, very afraid. A few years ago, we recruited a kid hard who went to 5 or 6 high schools in 4 years. Thank God he went elsewhere. The risk of of inevitable eligibility issues , particularly with a program like ours who is experiencing enough instability with transfers and legal issues, tells me he isn't worth the risk. There is also a good chance he would break the 100% grad rate XU currently has, which is priority one for all on this board right? Muskieman, what say you?

Hard to judge. You have to wonder about his motivation, and if eligibility might be his concern. If so, and he does commit to Xavier, at least he isn't sitting out a season while attending classes here. Then again, with a year playing at prep school, even if he does come here he may be thinking 1 and done.

All that being said, it seems more and more HS basketball players take the option of prep school before heading to college. Academic requirements seem to be a driver, but the majority of college hockey student athletes now play junior hockey for a year or two before going to a top program. Many of them are 20, 21, 22 before starting school. They end up pro ready the day they leave college to join the NHL.

College athletics is just such a different and evolving world anymore, and the NCAA's policies and procedures seem 25 years behind the time.
