<(Hey, did Mark Prosser get that job at Ohio U.?)>
That ? asked by a lawyer. My answer is .. who is the name of Heavens ever said Mark Prosser was going to get the Ohio U job?
What is the old axiom ... a lawyer should never ask a question that he doesn't know the answer?
<He also knows a wee bit more than guys who say they used to be SID's for some school, if I recall correctly>
Damn right he does. And you have never, ever, nada read or heard this guy say he didn't know a "helluva lot more" about basketball than me, or any other poster on MM.
<If anyone can say that, based on what they actually saw with their own eyes last year, DJ is a legit high-major Div. I PG, God love 'em.>
Damn right He does. I saw DJ play, as a Freshman, perhaps 32 games last season. How many did you see with "your own eyes?" If the game wasn't on ESPN, or FOX-Ohio (or the tournament, which in your own words you walked out on at half of the Georgia game) a couple of games in Chi, and one or two at Cintas .... "My own eyes" saw perhaps three times as much as your eyes did.
<he (DJ) should not be the 1st choice at PG>
And that my man, was the whole point of my post. You have made a judgement and I say I am thankful you don't get to make basketball decisions at Xavier and I am thankful Sean Miller does.
BTW, along the lines of ... If anyone can say based on what they actually saw with their own eyes last year ... that the two Freshman MUST be our starting PG's, tell us one and all just how much you saw these two young men play PG last season? Two fine recruits who have yet to run one practice rep in Sean's offense?
And the winning lottery numbers tonight please ....

You're right, Wise, it was Mark Schmidt (don't know what I was thinking), and you posted your own inner ramblings as a "rumor" (supported by nothing, of course), and then it turned out to be completely untrue, not surprisingly. When called on the source of this "rumor", you offered zip.
If you watched DJ more than I did, which I'll concede, and you still think he's a legit D1 PG, then that calls your basketball evaluating skills even more into question. Again, unless his ballhandling improves greatly (which IS possible), he simply did not show that he could be anything other than a backup, emergency, for-no-more-than-2-minutes PG. Any double team or press would eat him alive, and if you can't see that, you may be looking but you're not seeing.

Well, I don't recall being asked about the source of the rumor, but I stated that his name was on a short list and THAT it was just that ... a rumor.
The "rumor" was a published report in the C-Bus Disgrace and the Athens (O.) Messenger saying that Mark was on the "short list."
That same "short list" included the guy who got the job so .... the published rumor was NOT "surprisingly "untrue."
<you still think he's (DJ) a legit D1 PG,>
Now where in blazes did I ever say that?
What I said was I am delighted that Sean Miller will decide if DJ is a legit D-1 PG, and that he knows a wee bity more than you do in evaluating the players.
And I said, your logic of saying DJ cannot be our PG and that two freshman who have not run a single rep in our offense can is ... well so far off the charts it is just plain silly.

Re: We play Missouri in the first round
Neutral, I think you might be a bit too hard on Jackson. He is not an ideal point but I believe he had several games where he played more than a couple minutes at point while Drew nursed his injury. You do not need to be a spectacular dribbler to play point as long as you make good decisions. He has size for the position and would be better equiped to pass out of trouble. I suspect his ball handling has improved from last season. Combine that with mental maturity and he would likely be fine at point if we need him there.
Jackson's role this past season was to come in and not make mistakes. That is very different from being a key part of the offense. His game could be much more fluid if he is expected to run the show. I don't see Jackson being a great point but if the rest of the team is strong he could be sufficient enough to give us another great run. A well organized team approach can beat a press without a dominant ballhandler.
