UD is a very good team...I don’t think they are peaking though. Top half of our league yes..”the best”? One of a few...we’d beat them...at home

I watched UD play tonight. Big Serious Players. They treasure the ball. They function as a team. Their shots go in the basket. They love each other, and their Coach. They will be a very hard out.

I think they missed one two-pointer the entire game. Still very hard to gauge them as they are mostly weighed by the merit of their two losses. I'd like to see them matched against our fellow BE teams. We are still their Overlords. That never gets old.

Worrying about UD is juvenile. Masking one’s jealousy for the Flyers’ success on this board with subtle pontifications is pathetic. They are having a tremendous year and exceeding all expectations. Good for them. I love X and am a loyal devoted fan but I do not hate Dayton. We have much to worry about with our program and tons of work to do to try and earn a slot in the dance. If we are fortunate enough to land a 10 seed we may well find out how tough the likely #2 seeded Flyers are, but until that moment arrives, that should be the least of our worries. X needs to win two of our final three reg season games to be on the right side going into BE tourney. Can we focus on that and let UD enjoy their current state of affairs? We are beginning to resemble Mick Cronin a bit on this thread - and that is never a direction one wants to go. For the record, IMHO, X plays UD ten times on a neutral court right now Dayton takes 7. Now can we focus on G-Town???

The chances of this team beating a team that averages 80 pts a game is slim and none. Dayton's offensive numbers are better than Nova's.

Nova was on a five game winning streak, but ran into a team that no one will want to play in the tourney. Providence's win was good for X, since they'll now be a mid 45 NET team, so they give us another high profile win opportunity. Also, SH's win today was good, as they inch closer to a top ten NET ranking. If X, goes 2-1 in their remaining three, they will end up only having 3-5 NET one wins, since DePaul and Johns are sliding fast out of the top 75. I think that gets them safely in, even if the resume has plenty of warts.

agree with your "win 2 of last 3"AH. With so many bubble teams notching impressive underdog wins this weekend, our margin for error has dwindled.
Today is a must win game. Our first real pressure road test of the season. We simply cannot afford to take a "L" here this afternoon or we will quickly drop to near "last four in" status. Focus men, focus.... (please come back to us Paul)

let's talk tourney seeds and BE tourney seeds.

first of all, i believe that we are IN but i would feel WAY MORE comfortable if we beat Butler. I think a win against Butler puts us squarely in one of the 8-9 games. a loss against Butler and a win in the BE tourney puts us 10-11 line (possibly play-in game). a loss to Butler and a loss in first BE game and we are SWEATING ON SUNDAY. if we beat Butler and win a couple BE tourney games, i think we may move up to a 7.

BE tourney - we can beat Butler and still get the 7 seed. if SJU loses to Marq we would all be 9-9 in conf and we would get the 6 or 7-seed (depends on if SHU wins or not. if they win, i think we get a bye. basically, we want to win and have SHU win as well). if SJU beats Marq then we would get a bye. i think that would give us the 5 seed (depends on how the top of the standings shake out. we want SHU to be overall conf winner because we hold the tiebreak by having beat them once. not gonna go into any other scenarios on the BE tourney. there's too many other scenarios.)

No way the climb to a 7 unless maybe they won the tourney. To many bad moments this year. They really, really need to beat Butler. An 8 and 10 conference record is awful iffy when there are no real big ooc wins, and a number of defeats.
