Butler, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Purdue are all playing each other in 2011 and 2012 at Conseco Fieldhouse as part of the Crossroads Classic. X, UC, and UD all play each other on a regular basis. Too bad Matta and OSU won't agree to the same. It is such an unfair move by OSU to refuse to play X, UC, or UD.
X and UC could still play the Crosstown Shootout, if it was their turn to play each other in this sort of doubleheader. Also, OSU and UC could maybe play each other a bit later in the year, if X and UD were to play each other as part of this sort of a doubleheader, to better fit in with the A10 schedule.
Wishful thinking though, something like this will never happen.

That's a great doubleheader. And, yes, it would be great if X could be involved in an Ohio version of it.

This might be a little difficult to set-up because of conferences. In Indy Purdue and IU will not play each other. They will each play Butler one year and ND the next. I would hate to have a year we didn't play UC. But please bring on the Buckeyes. But who would Ron cheer for?

Just give me another shot at OSU in the tournament where Cahill is not the ref.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

The Big Four in Indiana is an old tradition that was discontinued primarily because of the Big Ten rules. It used to be a tournament where the winners of the first two games would play the next day for the "championship", but IU and Purdue could never play in that championship game so the concept kind of died off.
The reinvention of the Classic eliminates the tournament concept and really looks to be somewhat of a replacement for the Wooden Classic (not sure that is being replaced, just speculating) that X played in several times. It is simply a double header and as Harryfe said, IU and Purdue still will not play but alternate opponents.
Since there is no such history in Ohio, it is unlikely to occur.
