I'm curious how the cable companies will handle this. Right now Speed and Fuel (which will turn into Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 soon according to that article) are found on the cheapest or at-least the 2nd-cheapest cable packages.
My guess is they will raise the price of everyone's month bill a couple bucks. The alternative would be bumping these channels up to a more expensive plan. Ultimately ofcourse both of these options piss off their customers but I think the second would more so than the first. Then again, if you don't like sports and you are told your bill is going up $3/mth (for example) because of the new Fox Sports deal, that would be annoying. I've gotten letters from TWC and DirecTV in the past that state something like "Effective 5/1/13, Channel XYZ will now only be available in Package XYZ and above". I haven't cared about any of the channels they've done that to so far but I certainly want the Fox 1 to see Xavier games on TV. I currently have the most basic DirecTV package so I'm rooting for Fox Sports 1 to make it on that.
I'm not sure how it works, if Fox has any say when they sign a deal with TWC, DirecTV, etc regarding what packages their channels fall in.
Go Muskies!
