And his suitors this time were (besides X) Cincinnati, Miami U. and Arizona State which are interesting group.

If I am allowed to say this I "HOPE" he does a great job at X(in and out of the classroom).
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

It looks like a good get for X, but remember that CJ averaged 19ppg for Manhattan, and never showed nearly that kind of offensive ability at X, especially his senior year when teams figured out he only shot within 2 feet of the basket.

The advantage of a transfer with two years of eligibility is you have a pretty good idea of how he plays in a college setting not high school. You also have a year to work him into the system and a year on the weights. Like a lot of our transfers (except Crawford), you expect him to blend in and contribute, but you really don't expect the high numbers. If he gets us 10 and 8 his junior year and 12 and 9 his senior year, it is a good deal for him and for us.

I still hope that we have a 6'9" 240lber out there ready to sign. We are looking a lot like GW with the long, lanky athletic players. I know it is Mack's style and I like it, but I know we need some bulk to play in the S16 and E8 against the likes of K-State, Pitt, UCLA, etc.

This also helps X evenly balance the classes. This will put him with Robinson and Lyons as the juniors on the team in 2011/12.

Sure, but I'll take a very efficient 12 and 6 out of him. He used the ball at a Crawford-esque rate last year. His usage (and scoring) will go down, but his efficiency should go up.

Are you saying that CJ was not a good pickup?

And CJ was a 6'5-6'6 power forward. Taylor is 6'8 and more athletic. Give him a year in the weight room and practicing with the team, and he should be a lot better come 2011.

No, I'm simply stating the obvious, which is that CJ's numbers at Manhattan did not translate into similar success against better competition. He had a nice junior year, and then, IMHO, a very disappointing senior season when he continually tried to force the issue against packed-in defenses, usually with poor results.

If Taylor gives X 12 & 6, I'm guessing we and the coaching staff would be happy with that----unless he's capable of more and it just doesn't happen for some reason.

CJ was never the number one option for X because it was score by committee not like last year' stud player game plan. He was not asked to be the man and at X played 10 minutes less on average per game.

Do we know if all of his points are made around the bucket or does he have a jumper? 3 pointer? FT %?
