Muskie Women Smash Mississippi St

The Musketeers' starting frontcourt combined to score 49 points and Ta'Shia Phillips posted the 40th double-double of her career to lead the No. 12/14 Xavier University women's basketball team past Mississippi State, 81-60, on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati. With the win, XU improves to 8-2 on the year while the Bulldogs slip to 8-4. Amber Harris led all scorers with 19 points and she also recorded three steals and three assists. Harris was a solid 8-of-9 from the free throw line, helping Xavier make 20 of its 22 attempts (90.9 percent) from the charity stripe.
Xavier will return to action on Wednesday, December 23 when the team welcomes Austin Peay to Cintas Center. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
