X Crushes FSU and Dances into the Sweet 16
By Jay Skeldon, 3/18/2017

The No. 11 seed Xavier Musketeers will keep their dancing shoes on for another game as they are headed to the Sweet 16, dominating No. 3 seed Florida St., 91-66, on Saturday night in the Round of 32 in Orlando. The Musketeers controlled the game from start to finish as Trevon Bluiett once again led the team with a game-high 29 points on 8-of-14 shooting including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. It was a balanced attack by X with five players scoring in double figures (Kaiser Gates - 14, Tyrique Jones - 13, Sean O'Mara - 11, and J.P. Macura - 10). The Musketeers displayed toughness and focus on both ends of the court from the opening tip, as X displayed efficient offensive execution, working inside-out and controlled the glass against the biggest team in Florida St. in the NCAA Tournament. With the win, Xavier (23-13) advances to the Sweet 16 for the eighth time in program history and an impressive sixth time in the last 10 season. The X-Men will face off against their former coach, Sean Miller, and the No. 2 seed Arizona Wildcats on March 23 at the SAP Center in San Jose. Game time will be announced on Sunday.
